WebSIG Éducation Cameroun brings together the institutions and indicators of six ministries: basic education (MINEDUB), secondary education (MINESEC), higher education (MINESUP), vocational training (MINEFOP), scientific research (MINRESI), youth and civic education (MINJEC).
On opening: all institutions on the grey background of Cameroon, surrounded by the sea and neighbouring countries. The right-hand column (on a narrow screen: at the top of the panel) links listed institutions, those on the map and those placed precisely.
From most to least precise (filter and institution sheet): A field GPS (MINEDUB) · B GPS from a ministry file (MINESEC, MINRESI) · C identified site (MINESUP) · D approximate position, centre of the subdivision (MINEFOP, MINESUP) · E no position, not on the map (schools to georeference). The consistency check flags “To be checked” a GPS point lying outside its declared region, or more than 500 m outside its declared division.
The map’s right-hand column and each sheet recall the indicator’s definition and reference date.
| Indicator | Definition and calculation | Unit | Source and date | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Schools to georeference | Listed MINEDUB schools without GPS coordinates | schools | MINEDUB, ATLAS 2026 | A closed school may still be listed in the ATLAS |
| School density | Listed MINEDUB schools (with or without GPS) ÷ division area × 1,000 | schools per 1,000 km² | MINEDUB, ATLAS 2026; area: INC boundaries (January 2026) | Relates schools to area, not to population |
| MINJEC youth centres | Multipurpose youth centres (CMPJ) of the region, all levels | centres | MINJEC, 2024 statistical yearbook | Regional statistics only, no list or positions yet |
| Primary schools with drinking water, electricity, toilets or latrines | Primary schools declaring the facility ÷ primary schools of the division × 100 (public, private and community schools) | % | MINEDUB, school mapping 2021-2022 | Declared by head teachers, not checked in the field; year 2021-2022, different from ATLAS 2026; says nothing about whether the facility works |
| Listed institutions (home page) | Sum of the six ministries’ lists | institutions | Ministry files (years above) | Reference years differ between ministries |
| Placed precisely (home page and map) | Institutions with a GPS position or identified site ÷ listed institutions | % | Same | Approximate positions are not counted |
| Georeferenced on the map, including approximate positions (home page) | Institutions with a position (GPS, identified site or approximate position) ÷ listed institutions | % | Same | An approximate position locates the subdivision, not the institution |
Updates: with each new edition of the ministries’ files and after each GPS field mission.

The WebSIG shows where institutions are; the SIGE sectoral portal publishes how many: enrolment, staff, facilities, infrastructure and exams, in its statistical yearbooks. The map uses the same classification: level, education system (French-speaking, English-speaking, bilingual), order (public, private) and setting (urban, rural). Each sheet links to the matching SIGE pages.
Data as of 3 October 2026. Approximate positions and schools without GPS will be completed by field survey missions.
